Shrimp Fry / Andhra Royyala Vepudu

Shrimp Fry / Andhra Royyala Vepudu

Few days back, I came across a quotation which made me think a lot. Maybe many people know this quotation and I to read it before 1 or 2 times, but this time it made me think alot. I really don't know  why?

I cried that I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet.

I don't know who told this, but a heart touching simple sentence which make us strong when we think about that. Sometimes we all feel that only we have all the problems in the world, but if we stop and look around us, we can see many smiles which are hiding problems whether they are big or small.

I myself sometimes feel that I am  facing a big problem, but after few days or months when I look at that problem I feel silly and laughing at myself. You know why, because it is an old silly problem and I already have a new another silly problem in front of me. I finally came to know that every problem will have a solution and we have to think about that solution, but instead of that we think about the problem most of the time. For some problems we can't find solution, but time will solve every problem. Some problems will not solve easily but make us strong. Teach us how to laugh during hard times. So problems are good I think (just kidding).

Even sometimes we feel trying new food as a big problem. Me too sometimes afraid of trying new food and ..... Oops, I know your are waiting to know my tasty Andhra Royyala Veppudu and I am telling about something....

Shrimp Fry / Andhra Royyala Vepudu

I learned this spicy Shrimp fry from my Mom, which is a best accomplishment for rice. Preparing this recipe will be very easy like other shrimp recipes.

Ingredients:

  • Shrimp - 1 lb
  • Onion - 2, Medium
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 2 tsp or to taste
  • Garam masala - 1 tsp or to taste
  • Cooking oil - 5 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Curry leaves - 1 spring

For Marination:

  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - little
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Preparation:

  • Peel the skin and clean the shrimp.
  • Marinate the cleaned shrimp with all the ingredients under marination for 20 minutes.
  • Make onions into coarse paste. (Don't make them into smooth paste)

Preparing the fry:

  • Heat a pan, add the marinated shrimp and cook until they are done and all the water that oozes out from shrimp is evaporated. No need to add oil.
  • Dish-out the shrimp and to the same pan add oil and when oil is hot add onion paste and cook till it turn golden brown. (Cook on medium to low heat to prevent burning)
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and cook there is no raw smell.
  • Add coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, salt and garam masala  and mix. Add 2 to 3 tbsp water to prevent spice powders from burning and cook for a minute.
  • Add cooked shrimp, coriander leaves and mix and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Serve with rice.
