Spicy Peanut Chutney

Peanut chutney is a great side for Dosa, Idli, Upma, Uttapam. When i made this chutney for the first time, my husband became fan for this chutney. The simple masala, we add will increase the taste of this chutney.

For masala:

  • 1/2 tsp avvalu / mustard seed
  • 1 tsp jeera / cumin
  • 8 - 10 curry leaves
  • 1/4 cup urad dal / menapa pappu

Method:

  • Take 1 tsp oil in a pan, add garlic pods and peanuts.
  • Roast them on a low flame until crisp. switch off the stove and add red chilli powder. (so that chilli powder will not burn).
  • Now grind the peanuts along with the  tamarind juice. Adjust water to make it runny.
  • Now add 2 tsp oil to a pan, when the oil is hot add mustard seeds / avvalu and jeera, let them splutter.
  • Add urad dal and curry leaves. When urad dal turns slightly golden color switch off the flame, let it cool.
