Mixed Fruit Jam

This is my first time, preparing jam. I never thought of  making jam is this easy. The thought of preparing jam came to my mind when my 3 yr old kid asked me what she can spread on the bread slice. The first thing i got in my mind was jam, but i don't like store bought as they contain preservatives and lot of sugar. We can even control sugar quantity, if we make at home. This recipe is a big hit, as my kid loved it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple
  • 1 banana
  • 2 plums
  • 5 strawberries
  • 1 orange
  • 1 mango
  • 10 cherries
  • 15-  20 black seedless grapes
  • Black berries handful
  • Sugar - 1 1/2 cup
  • lemon juice - 3 tsp

Method:

  • Clean all the fruits. Peel the apple, plums, mango, banana and orange.
  • Cut  them into pieces and blend all the fruits in a mixer/blender until smooth. (i  got 4 1/2 cups of puree)
  • Combine the fruit puree and sugar in a pan, cook on medium heat to bring it to a boil. (If you  want more sweet, increase the quantity of sugar)
  • Simmer until it thicken, stirring in regular intervals.
  • Once jam starts to thickens, add lemon juice, cook until jam becomes thick  it takes around one and half hour in slow flame, do stir in intervals.

  • Pour few drops of jam in a plate, if it's spreads then it's not ready, if it's stays firm without moving then your jam is ready.
  • Remove from heat, allow to cool slightly and store in a glass jar.
