Undrallu/Rice Rava Steamed Balls

Undrallu

Undrallu is traditional Andhra recipe and prepare mainly on Vinayaka Chaturthi. On this day Lord Vinayaka who is also know as Lord Ganesh, will be worshiped for 10 days. On Vinayaka Chaturthi, everyone will clean their house and decorate the idol of Ganesha and worship him with some herbal leaves and flowers and offer sweets and other food items. In my home, we don't use oil on that day. So we will make undrallu, athisara and pachi pulusu. Some people will prepare undrallu with rice flour.

  • Now make balls out off the dough and apply oil to idli plates or place banana leaves.
  • Heat water in a idli vessel and place the dough balls on the idli plates and steam them for 15 minutes.
