Cake Pops

Cake Pops

This is my first time making cake pops and I succeeded. Not only kids but elders also love these. Some most important things:
Cake will play a important roll. So prefer fresh cake.
Don't add too much of frosting. Adding more frosting make the cake pops soggy.
Mix with hands so that we will know the consistency.
Use a scoop or tbsp to scoop the cake mixture to make all the balls in same size.

Cake pops

For my cake pops I used homemade red velvet cake with beetroot which made by cake pop a big hit. You can use cake box mix to prepare cake or store bought cake without frosting to make cake pops.

Crumble cake and add honey and make into balls.
Melt candy melts.

Dip pop stick in melted candy mixture and insert into cake ball and let them dry.
Dip these balls in melted candy mixture and let them dry.

Yields : 20 cake pops (Small Size). Number may vary depending on size. Ingredients:

  • 6 inch Cake ( I used homemade Red velvet cake)
  • Frosting or Honey - 2 tbsp (I used honey)
  • Pop sticks
  • Candy melts or Chocolate -  1/2 pack
  • Sprinkles

Preparation:

  • Crumble cake in a bowl.
  • Add honey 1 tbsp at a time and mix it with hands. (My cake is moist so 2 tbsp is sufficient for me if you need you can add more)
  • Don't add honey or frosting at once. Add little at a time and mix until you  can make balls out of cake Mixture.
  • Now with a scoop, scoop out a ball or two(Depending on the size you want) and make into ball with hands and keep them in a plate and place them in fridge for 10 minutes.
  • Mean while melt the chocolate or candy melts in microwave with 10 sec intervals until they melt.
  • Now dip the pop stick at one end into chocolate or candy melt and insert into cake ball and keep on a plate upside down. Keep in fridge for 20 minutes.
  • Now dip the cake balls in chocolate or candy melt and let the excess chocolate drip off. Tap gentle.
  • Add sprinkles and place them in Styrofoam or a bowl filled with sugar and let them dry.
  • Enjoy the cake pops.
